Subway Simulator New York
The second city WAPP took on – a simulation of driving the New York subway.
Subway Simulator Prague Metro was the best known title released under the WAPP name. It simulated driving the Prague metro: the player did not manage a transit authority or build a network, but sat in the driver's cab and ran the line.
The heart of it was the ride itself – pulling away, holding speed, braking into the station and stopping in the right place. The setting was based on the Prague metro, specifically line A, and for players who knew the real route that recognition was much of the appeal.
The simulator was aimed at players who enjoy a genre with no opponent and no clock. The reward is not a score; it is that the ride feels right – that the train stops where it should, and that the sound and pacing match what you know from the platform.
The game was built when mobile hardware and game engines were far more limited than they are today. Many decisions followed from what phones of the time could handle, from the level of detail in the environment to the way the route was loaded.
The game is no longer available
The title is not distributed and neither the original source files nor the content were preserved, so it cannot be re-released in its original form.
